Executive Assembly: Overview

The NARSTO Executive Assembly is the annual general meeting of NARSTO members. The Executive Assembly reviews the activities of the past year, discusses future NARSTO projects, and provides direction to the NARSTO Executive Steering Committee and the NARSTO Management Coordinator. Executive Assembly meetings also feature one or more technical presentations on topics of interest to air quality managers and researchers in the three NARSTO countries.

2007 Executive Assembly

The 2007 Executive Assembly was held March 27 & 28 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Crystal City, VA. The meeting reviewed recent NARSTO-related field research activities in Texas and Mexico, and discussed future NARSTO activities -- particularly the current NARSTO assessment of the technical challenges of implementing "accountability" within a multi-pollutant air quality management regime.

2006 Executive Assembly
The 2006 NARSTO Executive Assembly was held May 9 and 10 at the Lord Elgin Hotel in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The meeting featured discussions of the potential health effects of fuel additives, air quality forecasting activities in Canada the United States and Mexico, the role of science in informing air quality management in Canada, and discussions of new NARSTO initiatives.

2005 Executive Assembly
The 2005 NARSTO Executive Assembly was held April 11 and 12 at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2005 Assembly featured installation of a new Management Coordinator and review of current NARSTO activities -- especially the soon-to-be-released NARSTO Emission Inventory Assessment.

2004 Executive Assembly
The 2004 Executive Assembly was held April 13-14 in Washington, DC at Jurys Washington Hotel. The Assembly reviewed status of the emission inventory assessment and discussed the new DOE aerosol/climate initiative. Attendees were also briefed on a number of other activities important to NARSTO's mission.

2002 Executive Assembly
The 2003 Executive Assembly was held at the White House Conference Center on April 29-30, 2002. The Assembly featured a review of results from recent NARSTO field research and assessment activities.

09/18/08 to 09/19/08 AWMA New Source Review Workshop

This workshop, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, will discuss the regulatory requirements for the New Source Review (NSR).

09/22/08 to 09/25/08 24th Annual Clean Air Conference

The conference will be held at the Millennium Hotel, Boulder, Colorado. Deadline for early registration is September 5, 2008.

10/08/08 to 10/10/08 7th AeroCom Meeting

The 7th AeroCom meeting will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland. Oral contributions should be submitted by September 7, and attendees are requested to register by September 19.

10/12/08 to 10/16/08 ISEE/ISEA Joint Annual Conference

The International Society for Environmental Epidemiology and the International Society of Exposure Analysis joint annual meeting will be held in Pasadena, California. Early registration deadline is August 15, 2008. Full registration deadline is September 30, 2008.

The annual meeting of the National Acid Deposition Program will be held at the Madison Concourse Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin.

Xcel Energy, a Minneapolis-based electric and natural gas utility, reached an agreement with the state of New York that would require the utility to disclose to investors business risks that might arise from climate change.

As installed generating capacity increases, wind energy is running into operational problems ranging from coordinating wind and hydro output in the Pacific Northwest to limited transmission line capacity in other parts of the country. This New York Times article discusses the transmission problem.
