PM Science & Assessment

This NARSTO assessment – Particulate Matter Science for Policy Makers (2004) – reviews current knowledge about the life cycle of particulate matter in the atmosphere, and it discusses the tools that can be used to develop, implement, and monitor programs for controlling this form of pollution.

Ozone Assessment

NARSTO’s ozone assessment reviews current scientific understanding of the ozone problem (circa 1999) and provides answers to a number of policy-relevant questions.

09/18/08 to 09/19/08 AWMA New Source Review Workshop
This workshop, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, will discuss the regulatory requirements for the New Source Review (NSR).

09/22/08 to 09/25/08 24th Annual Clean Air Conference
The conference will be held at the Millennium Hotel, Boulder, Colorado. Deadline for early registration is September 5, 2008.

10/08/08 to 10/10/08 7th AeroCom Meeting
The 7th AeroCom meeting will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland. Oral contributions should be submitted by September 7, and attendees are requested to register by September 19.

10/12/08 to 10/16/08 ISEE/ISEA Joint Annual Conference
The International Society for Environmental Epidemiology and the International Society of Exposure Analysis joint annual meeting will be held in Pasadena, California. Early registration deadline is August 15, 2008. Full registration deadline is September 30, 2008.

Xcel Energy, a Minneapolis-based electric and natural gas utility, reached an agreement with the state of New York that would require the utility to disclose to investors business risks that might arise from climate change.

As installed generating capacity increases, wind energy is running into operational problems ranging from coordinating wind and hydro output in the Pacific Northwest to limited transmission line capacity in other parts of the country. This New York Times article discusses the transmission problem.
